Follow Me to the Cross
Follow Me to the Cross - Jesus Sets You Free (Contemporary)
Today in Worship we continue our Lenten sermon series, “Follow Me to the Cross,” which invites us to explore the different ways that that cross of Christ brings redemption or Atonement (at-one-ment with God). As we journey with Jesus to his death and then his resurrection, we’ll seek to more deeply understand the ways that the cross ultimately stands as an expression of God’s love for us. This week, we’ll talk about Ransom Atonement theory by looking at Luke 4:16-21. We will think together about what it means that Jesus ransoms us from our captivity to sin and death, and how that empowers us to work for God’s liberating love in the world. For deeper study during this Lenten journey, we encourage you to read the book, “Savior – What the Bible Says About the Cross” by Magrey R. deVega, which the pastors will be referencing throughout this series.
