Simple Gifts: Kingdom Economics (Contemporary)

Today in worship we conclude our sermon series, “Simple Gifts.” Based on the familiar Shaker folk song, throughout this series we will remember God has given us many gifts through his son, Jesus Christ, and in God’s Creation. As we reflect with gratitude on those simple gifts, we’ll consider what it means to give back a portion of our own simple gifts through our worship, giving, and serving. We will remember that it is the simple gifts we can give back to God that help reorient us to faith in God and God’s Kingdom. Today, we will think about Matthew 13:31-33. Even though the mustard seed and the yeast are small in size, they have the power to transform and bring life to the large tree and to the bread. As we think about our own generosity, we’ll remember that giving back has less to do with amount and more to do with the power of God to use our gifts for the Kingdom.
