Healing Practice of Celebration

Celebration in Failure (Contemporary)

Today in worship, we will continue our series on the Healing Practice of Celebration based loosely on the book The Healing Practice of Celebration by Dr. Elaine Heath. Dr. Heath reminds us that throughout Scripture, there are occasions to celebrate, even in the face of difficulty, darkness, uncertainty, and failure. God is with us, and God’s goodness is stronger than the darkness of the world. Today, we will talk about Celebration in Failure through the calling of Levi in Luke 5. Levi is not the “right kind of person,” yet he hears the promise of the Gospel and leaves his old life of sin and failure behind to follow God. We, too, have failures and mistakes in our lives. But we are called and we can celebrate God’s mercy and grace to us, just like Levi even amid our failures!
