today for fun, fellowship and a chance to walk in the Spirit while
serving
in the ministries of the church. You will find the benefits you reap
while serving others to be . . . amazing, powerful and impactful.
Listed below are areas where you can volunteer your time, gifts, and talents to help make a difference. There are a multitude of choices available and all are welcome! Annual Church Events - Once a year programs, i.e. Easter services, church workday, Vacation Bible School, and seasonal events like the Christmas Cantata. Try your hand at decorating, organize registration, set up props or scenery.
Buildings & Grounds - Cleaning, painting, or U-fix it jobs indoors. Planting, weeding, or repairing sprinklers outdoors.
Church Office - Answer phones, make copies, data entry, stuff bulletins, shelve books, and many other clerical jobs are available.
Journey - Our Wednesday evening program offers opportunities to truly serve others - dinner! Help prepare or serve the meal, cleanup tables, or run the dishwasher. You CAN have fun working in the kitchen!
Communications - Write articles, photography, graphic arts, send press releases, mailing crew, update bulletin boards, and other types of communications that assist the church in promoting its ministries, programs and events.
Children's Ministry - Find your inner child while helping on Sunday mornings in SonCity, or Wednesday evenings during Journey, VBS and/or Music Art Drama (M.A.D.) Camp during the summer, and various other times throughout the year!
Youth Ministry - Be part of the life-changing IMPAKT worship service on Sundays, or during the week with EDGE on Wednesdays (Middle School), Loft on Thursdays (High School) or help with small groups, summer camp, retreats, missions and more.
Outreach Ministry - Help organize, promote and host special events to welcome the community to SUMC and offers faith-sharing training to members of our congregation.
Missions - This team serves the community working with Daily Bread, Habitat for Humanity, disaster relief, United Methodist Children's Home, worldwide missions, and more.
Worship & the Arts - The choices here are endless! Drama, vocal and instrumental music, altar stewards, video production, Powerpoint preparations, sound & light tech, or ushering are but a few examples.
Congregational Care - Deliver flowers, visitations, health and wellness, transportation, prayer chain and Divorce Recovery are a few of the ministries needing special gifts and talents.
Welcome Ministry - One of the most important of positions is providing a smiling face and warm "hello" to visitors on Sundays by becoming a greeter, drive golf carts, serve coffee or help setup, serve or cleanup for New Member orientations.
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude
of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each
one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully
administering God's grace in its various forms."
