Upcoming Small Group Events

Groups Looking for New Members

Women’s Group.  Are Monday mornings good for you? Come join us as we start a new Biblical study, “The Power of a Praying Wife”.  Discussion begins at 10 am. Need more info? Call Athena Bauerle at 752-0138 (leave message).

Music Lovers.  Dust off your musical instrument! Instrumentalists, vocalists, evangelists, and lovers of music: You are invited to be a part of a new group which will study scripture, biographies, and history of hymns and songs of faith, followed by playing and preparing to share these musical treasures with the community, the sick, the lonely and elderly. First meeting, Wed., Jan. 24th at 7 pm in Room 106. Contact Brad Shea at 432-7894.

What is a Small Group?

A Small Group is an intentional gathering of people whose purpose is to discover and grow in Christ, serve one another and the body of Christ, and reach out to the world for Christ.

Specifics:

  • Size: 6 - 12 people.

  • Time:  regular meeting approximately 2 to 3 hours in length to include fellowship, study, exchanging life information, prayer and outreach. 

  • Location:  meet in group members' homes. 

  • Focus:  group focus is on a topic of study or book of the Bible relevant to spiritual and relational development.

  • Leadership:  led by a leader and an apprentice who are committed to the spiritual and relational development of the group.

  • Growth:  groups mature through life exchange, adding new members and birthing new groups.

How to Join a Small Group

  • Call the church office at 242-2585, email: staff@suntreeumc.org  New Small Groups are forming and you will be given information regarding a group that will fit your needs.

  • Be invited to join a small group by a small group member.

  • If you have previous experience leading a small group and would like to know what is involved in becoming a Small Group Leader at SUMC, please call the church office at 242-2585.
